For Observers

Everything you need to score riders on a phone without installing an app. The organiser will give you a link or QR code for your section — open it and you go straight to the scoring screen, no account needed.

1. What you need

A modern smartphone and the QR sheet or link from the organiser. The app is designed to stay usable even when mobile signal is weak or disappears completely.

2. Join your section

The organiser will give you one of three types of link:

  • Your personal observer link — the normal option. The organiser assigns you to a section before the event and sends you a link. Open it and you land straight in scoring — no name prompt, no extra steps.
  • A section link — a general link for one section, not tied to you specifically. You may be asked to confirm your name once so the scorecard can label your scores correctly.
  • An event-wide link — covers all sections. The organiser uses this for emergencies. You will be asked to confirm your name and which section you are covering.

3. Enter scores

Open the rider list, pick the rider, and tap the score that matches the observed attempt. Save the score and move on to the next rider.

4. Work offline if needed

If signal drops, keep scoring. The phone stores scores locally and sends them to the server automatically when the connection returns. Stay on the same phone if you can — passing the phone to someone else is the safest way to keep the section moving with no signal. Only move to a different phone when the organiser tells you to.

5. Hand over to someone else

If you need to stop mid-event, pass the same phone to the next person and use the hand-off button in the app. If a transfer to a different phone is needed, the organiser will tell you — they will generate a QR code on your phone for the replacement to scan. Once that scan is done, your phone should stop scoring that section immediately.

6. Correct mistakes

If you tap the wrong score, reopen the rider and update it. The club can review the scores before publishing final results.

7. If you get stuck

Tell the organiser exactly what you can see on screen, then let them work through this:

  1. Your link won't open or shows an error. Ask the organiser to resend your personal link. Opening a fresh link usually fixes the problem.
  2. You see an unexpected name prompt. This normally means you are on a section link or event-wide link rather than your personal link. Enter your name and continue — the organiser can resend your personal link if needed.
  3. The scoring screen is blank or shows the wrong section. Ask the organiser to share the section link for your section directly.

8. When you are finished

Once your section is complete, you can leave the scorecard open until the organiser confirms everything is finished. There is no sign-out step.
